Possibly the most famous shoe designer in our current age is Christian Louboutin. His ethos is to “make shoes that are like jewels” and each unique design demonstrates unparalleled quality and an innate sultriness.
Christian Louboutin was born in Paris and at 16 years old became an apprentice at Charles Jourdan’s shoe factory. His main inspiration for becoming a shoe designer were the showgirls of the Paris nightclubs of the late 70’s early 80’s – “[The showgirls] influence me a lot. If you like high heels, it’s really the ultimate high heel – it’s all about the legs, how they carry themselves, the embellishment of the body. They are the ultimate icons.”
The trademark of every Louboutin shoe made is the red sole. Apparently this was inspired after he saw an assistant painting her nails red and thus the idea was born. Woman around the nation have been known to colour the soles of their killer black heels red in a lavish attempt to imitate a pair of these wondrous shoes!
Hundreds of famous celebrities the world over are huge fans. Oprah Winfrey has described the shoes simply as “pieces of art”. Unlike most Mum’s Victoria Beckham was last year seen watching her children playing football in a park in a pair of Christian Louboutin Heels.
This year’s Spring/Summer collection proves to be one of his best seasons yet with bright and funky wedge espradrilles to extremely high heels with delicate ribbons and embroidery detail. Mini heeled mules in colours ranging from beige to tan and suede turquoise heels and boots. Pure Heaven!

According to the editor of Handbag.com, Belinda White, wearing Louboutin heels can meana bettwe *** life – and more of it!
London based fans can head to his boutique store in Motcombe Street, Knightsbridge (“In such a pretty street, I want to have my prettiest shoes”) or head to Harvey Nicholls.
It is a fact that a large proportion of the nation don’t and possibly will never own a pair of these shoes but it’s almost as if having a pair would take away from the sheer, unadulterated joy of lusting after them.
