Have You Tried Scrapbooking Recipes?

Posted by admin in Recipes on 08 7th, 2010 | 1 Comment

Have you seen the new scrapbooking supplies for recipe albums? Local scrapbooking stores are responding to the new trend of scrapbooking recipes. You can find albums with a recipe theme, as well as stickers, paper and embellishments to complement the scrapbook. The main thought behind scrapbooking recipes is the same as scrapbooking photos and memories. We want to preserve the recipes for future generations. However, recipe scrapbooks are very popular as gift items as well. Some scrapbookers are even using them in their kitchens as cookbooks.

To begin designing a recipe scrapbook you need to think about your purpose for creating it. Will this be an album documenting family recipes handed down from generation to generation? Or are you creating an album to give as a gift? If this is a recipe album meant to be used in the kitchen, you also may approach the design differently and choose a scrapbook that will be more durable. Albums come in a variety of sizes including, 4×6, 5×7 and 12×12 inches. Choose the one that will best fit your goal for scrapbooking recipes.

Decide whether or not this will be a gift album. You may not want to use the original recipe card written by your great-grandmother in a gift recipe scrapbook. You still could make the recipes personal by writing the ingredients and instructions in your own handwriting instead of a computer font. Recipe albums make welcome gifts for weddings, graduations, Christmas or housewarming gifts.

Which recipes to choose will depend on your goal for the album. You may want to use quick and easy recipes for a graduation gift. Holiday favorites would be ideal for a Christmas gift. You could also narrow down the recipe choices to just desserts, soups, main dishes or family favorites.

When you begin to design your recipe album decide if you want to keep the same layout format for each page and if you will coordinate the embellishments on each page. You may want to keep the album with an overall uniform look, or have each individual page have a unique look.

You can use recipe cards or journaling blocks for the ingredients and instructions. You may also want to include a photo of the dish or a picture of the person who gave you the recipe. Consider adding comments about why you love the dish or opinions from your family on why it is one of their favorites. Try journaling about the history of the recipe or any special memories you have about it. Making the album personal is what scrapbooking is all about.

Scrapbooking recipes doesn’t have to be limited to a recipe album. Think about including recipes in other scrapbooks. Highlight the recipe for Witch’s Brew on a Halloween page layout. Recipes on Thanksgiving pages are an obvious choice. Include your secret recipe for perfect gravy. How about including the recipes for the dinner you made for your husband on your first Valentine’s Day? You can also include your grandmother’s apple pie recipe on a page all about your memories of her. Food is a big part of our lives, and recipes are a natural page element for scrapbooks. Think about creating a recipe album as a scrapbooking project or add a recipe to your next page layout. Be a part of latest scrapbooking trend and pull out your recipe cards.

How to Find Good Recipes

Posted by admin in Recipes on 08 5th, 2010 | No Comments

Where to find Good Recipes:  Books and Websites

There are numerous recipe books in the marketplace and an array of websites which provide good recipes. Most of the websites and books have categorized recipes and you have to decide which category you want to choose.  Whether you are a housewife or professional, good recipes are available in many places and you should use them to make a recipe book for your needs later.

The “Good Cook” website also has categorized recipes.  You can browse their site by choosing your favorite food, or you can choose their recipe categories.  Select the category which you want and try it out. Their categories range from beverages, bread, main course, seafood and fish to nutrition and health or outdoor cooking. You can get vegetarian food and the different types of meat.  There are recipes for special dishes from various regions, various countries and continents and there are recipes which have special diets like low carb, for weight loss or diabetics.

This website also gives you some innovative ideas like baking up cookies for family fun or crock pot recipes to enjoy.  Just try them out to get some quality time with your family on the weekend.

You may find exciting recipes on the internet like Beer for Beginners, or 54 Ways to Lose Weight, or even Easy to Make Omelets. On the bbc.co.uk website, you can do a quick recipe search by searching for three ingredients: recipe title, chef or the TV program. There are often interesting wine suggestions as well with the recipes.

On the BBC recipe site you can find a recipe according to the main ingredient, the occasion , meal, taste, texture, cuisine, cooking method, provider and dish.  Often there is also a lot of information provided about the recipe and also the nutritional value, so that you know what you are cooking.

The Yahoo Food and Recipe site has many food videos and they are a pleasure to watch.  The recipes for low-fat are the favorites and once you have tried them out, you can rate them as well.  The “healthy categories” are also popular nowadays, so they could be the categories called Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Low Calorie, Low Fat and Low Sugar.

The Hub UK site offers recipes, cookery, food and even a cooking vacation.  The recipe given by this site of the famous Yorkshire pudding is one of the best. The site has thousands of recipes again divided into numerous categories.

Indiaplaza.in has recipes from all over the world.  The database of good cooking recipes on this website is growing continuously.  There is also elaborated information about all the ingredients and directions, so all that you have to do is follow instructions meticulously.

Look for new recipes on Bush’s Best Beans and even the simplest recipes are available here.  The link is http://www.bushbeans.com/recipes/recipes.php.  Finally, a good recipe is what you make of it, by giving each dish a personal touch. For western cooking the measurements are important, and if you take the correct quantities of ingredients nothing can go wrong.  But the oriental cuisine does not demand such exactness, and you can slow down while you are cooking, because you can add or change some of the ingredients mentioned in the recipe.

At the Shoppbox Ebook Reviews there is a variety of recipe ebooks to choose from.
Everything from Oriental to Low Carb recipes can be found there.

Posted by admin in Home Appliances on 08 4th, 2010 | No Comments

Imagine a life without your toaster, mixer or your vacuum cleaner- it would be a total mess with you juggling between your kitchen, other chores and office. Yes, this is what Home Appliances and Kitchen Appliances have done to us. Today, these are no longer considered a luxury but have become necessities for smooth running of the house.

Among the popular home appliances today are irons, vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators, and washing machines. And the kitchen appliances that we cannot do without are Toaster / Grill, Tea / Coffee Maker, Cooker, Iron, Food Processor, Vacuum Cleaner, Air Conditioner and Microwave Oven.

Well, but how would you know which home appliance or kitchen appliance is the ideal one for your needs. Read on to know that…the first step is to keep in mind the individual needs of your house before buying a particular home appliance. Any home or kitchen appliance that is purchased today should be energy efficient in order to save money. This is particularly true with electric kitchen appliances.

An example is purchasing an appliance that uses water, like a washing machine or a dishwasher. Look for newer features like reduced water uses for different rinsing cycles.

A cost effective measure you can take when buying an air-conditioner is to make sure that it fits the size of your room. The Department of Energy suggests that an air-conditioner’s size can be determined by multiplying your room’s square feet by 20. Always go for small/portable sizes, with smaller prices and bigger utilities to get the most out of your home appliances.

For those of you who enjoy cooking or baking, purchasing kitchen appliances, that are user friendly and time saving are a must. Also keep in mind the portability of the kitchen appliance, so that you do not have to struggle with its weight.

Kitchen appliances like food processors, juice extractor, blender, grinder mixture, kettles, toasters/grills that come in great sizes and steam cookers come in different brands and are constructed with a high quality, and are high performance kitchen assistants. Using advanced technology, like non-stick coatings etc make sure that the heat is thoroughly circulated, even, and just about right for your meals.

Though there is no lack of physical stores offering great home appliances, let’s accept it that shopping in the city markets is just a test of patience. So, why don’t you try shopping online? Just log onto one of the online sites and buy great home and kitchen appliances from the comforts of your homes. Most of these sites also ensure free shipping facilities.

Get relief from the stress and time involved in home management with high quality home appliances with cutting edge technology.

Low Calorie Recipes To Stay Healthy

Posted by admin in Recipes on 08 3rd, 2010 | No Comments

People are increasingly moving towards a vegetarian diet as they are gradually becoming aware that vegetables are a healthy food. Using lunch recipes like vegetarian low calorie recipes is one of the best things that you can do make sure your family is healthy and safe from obesity which is turning out to be a real epidemic in the United States and other developing countries. Cooking vegetables is definitely better than the other options you have to a vegetarian diet but you get the best nutritional benefit when you partake of vegetables raw.

Raw vegetables contain a lot of minerals, vitamins and other sources of nutrition that are required by our bodies. These low calorie recipes which are mostly high in fiber content protect you from digestive disorders and may even protect you from the caner of the colon and lung. Hence you must make sure that your dinner recipes and lunch recipes include a raw salad recipe
Plenty of vegetarian and low calorie recipes make use of tofu, soy, peas and dried beans to make sure they get their quota of proteins for the day. One of my favorite lunch recipes is the red bean salad recipe which is made from red beans and onion rings and then seasoned with pounded garlic, salt, sugar, pepper powder and a dash of olive oil. You can add some cubes of cucumber if you like or replace the beans with chick peas. This makes for a tasty and easy recipe; even your kids could help you make it.

You can collect quite a few low calorie recipes by subscribing to vegan magazines, looking through the food sections of newspapers and visiting vegetarian websites. Some even let you upload your recipe if you want to share some of your dinner or lunch recipes with others. Introducing some vegetarian low calorie recipes in your diet can immediately change the way you feel and can be used to improve your overall health and lifestyle. And you will soon come to realize that these dinner or lunch recipes that you prepare can be tasty and at the same time low in calories.

Introducing vegetarian low calorie recipes in your diet will provide you with a variety and provide you healthy eating choices. Besides, vegetarian lunch recipes are full of flavor and robust and with all the proteins and vitamins they contain they are a match for meat recipes any time. Another advantage is that these easy recipes cook faster then a meat recipe would. And some of these recipes are so tasty you might well find some carnivores turning vegetarian too.

As people increasingly try to make use of healthy recipes in the busy lifestyle, vegetarian slow cooking is getting to be quite popular. The best part of it is the slow cooking enhances the flavor of your lunch recipes which other methods of cooking don’t give you. The longer it cooks the more flavor it draws from the ingredients. Besides, it also enhances the taste as the nutrients and flavors get concentrated in the food as they cook slowly.

Home Appliances Right at your Home

Posted by admin in Home Appliances on 08 1st, 2010 | No Comments

Home appliance is a term which is used to describe electrical/ mechanical products used for help with household functions such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal grooming, and home comfort.

Home appliances are typically classified into two main categories:

A) Small Appliances

B) Major Appliances

According to wikipedia, small appliance refers to class of appliances that are semi-portable or are used on tabletops, countertops and other platforms. These appliances are often taken out when needed and stored away when not in use. Some example of small home appliances are – coffee makers, blenders, juicers, rice cookers, food processors, mixers, toasters, toaster ovens (which are all kitchen appliances); vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners (which are cleaning appliances); steam irons, garment steamers, clothes shavers (which are laundry appliances); hair dryers, hair strengtheners, curling irons, electric toothbrushes, electric men’s shavers, ladies personal shavers & epilators, hair clippers (which are all personal care appliances); electric fans, space heaters, humidifiers, and dehumidifiers (which are all home comfort appliances).

Major Appliance are defined are fixtures that are not easily moved. These appliances are large and wired into an electrical supply or permanently plugged into a household electrical outlet. Major appliances usually remain in place when a property is purchased or sold. The kitchen stove, range hood, microwave oven, refrigerator, dish washer, washing machine, and dryer are the most common examples of major appliances.

There are now some appliances which have traditionally been considered major appliances, but may also be classified as small appliances. These include portable air conditioners, portable washing machines, and portable dish washers.

In today’s e-world, there are many websites, forums, and other online resources available at the click of a mouse. In addition, there are manufacturer’s websites, and many retailers have websites that show the makes and models that they carry. Since small appliances are more easily shipped from a retailer to a consumer, they are often sold on through online stores.

However, consumers should be aware that the voltage for home appliances differs in different parts of the world, so an appliance purchased in Europe or Asia will not work in North America. The United States and Canada use 120 volt small appliances, while most other countries use 220 volts.

There are numerous brands of both small and major appliances, each with different models with varying features. It is a good idea to do some research prior to purchasing a home appliance.

Online Recipes – Where Cooks Everywhere Can Find Their Next Meal Recipe

Posted by admin in Recipes on 08 1st, 2010 | No Comments

For everyone who has ever stared at a package of chicken at four o’clock in the afternoon trying to figure out what to do with it for dinner, there is another option besides dousing it in bottled bbq sauce or lugging out the same old cookbooks. The option that is becoming increasingly popular with cooks everywhere is to turn to online recipes. By spending just a few minutes on sites like www.online-recipes.org, a cook can quickly find a way to make that chicken appealing.

As a matter of fact Nielsen’s NetRatings, determined that the most popular food related activity online is searching for recipes. Of all the people who shop online, at least 60% of them also use recipe sites to find online recipes. The trend is moving from cookbooks to online recipes. Many people have a computer nearby or in their kitchen and using it to find recipes is smart and convenient.

There are several benefits of using websites dedicated to online recipes for day to day cooking:

• There are thousands of recipes to choose from instead of just the few in a cookbook
• The recipes are often submitted to the sites by everyday cooks who use the recipes often, therefore its easy to find family friendly recipes – very important for the family cook staring at the chicken at four o’clock in the afternoon
• The recipes are free
• Many sites allow ratings and comments on the recipes that are submitted. Those who have tried the recipes can make comments and suggestions that are helpful when choosing a recipe
• Some sites for online recipes allow the user to search by ingredients – so if along with that chicken there are fresh mushrooms and scallions in the refrigerator also, a recipe can be found using all ingredients
• Some sites allow the number of servings a recipe produces to be adjusted and then the ingredients are automatically changed accordingly, something no cookbook could ever do
• In addition to recipes, sites for online recipes usually have cooking tips, food definitions (need to know what paella is?) cooking method explanations (how do you blanch a green bean?) and helpful information for amateur cooks
• Searching by categories such as Mexican, Kid Friendly, Diabetic, etc. is a feature many online sites have – searching in a category can save a lot of time
• Some sites have a shopping list feature – the ingredients for a recipe or several recipes can be listed and printed out to take to the store

In addition to getting day to day recipes from online recipe sites, these sites are very helpful when planning a special occasion meal. With the holidays quickly approaching, choosing to plan a meal using recipes found online can save a lot of time. www.online-recipes.org can help with this task. By searching for recipes for turkey, sweet potatoes, kugel, latkes, lasagna, fish, side dishes and more, an entire holiday meal of recipes can be found in a short period of time. A word of caution – new recipes should be tried once before serving them to guests. Nobody likes a dry kugel.

In addition to helping cooks find new recipes, these sites also allow home cooks to share their recipes with the world. There is a growing trend for cooks to put their recipes online, sharing generations old or new recipes with others. Many people who have been looking for a recipe just like their great-grandmother’s lost applesauce cake recipe now have a resource to find it or one that is at least very similar.
